ORIGINAL ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:

 
- The work belongs to the artist's series, “still lifes”. Elements from the still life are integrated. In this case they are sea shells (evoking the marine works of Sorolla) and on the other hand the flowers, elements that make up numerous garden paintings by the master. In the color planning, the entire range of blues have been chosen to represent the Sorolla Sea. Also for the conch shells, complementary colors have been chosen such as medium cadmium yellow and ultramarine blue that appear in Sorolla's work: “Pescadoras de Valencia”. Research and technical explanation: Study of contrasts between transparencies and opacities in oil paintings, within the theme of a marine still life (glosses, glazes, display cases, mirrors). Use of binders and solvents that lighten the pigments and linseed oils until they become transparent. Creation of varnishes between quantities of turpentine essence and poppy oil. Lead white is used to opaque.

The Valencia Biennial – Ciutat Vella Oberta is a cultural project with a multidisciplinary vocation, whose objective is to project the Valencian identity to the world and make artistic production visible in our “Art Circuit”.

Made up of artists, cultural agents and art theorists, the Biennial is articulated through a network of actions that connect artist workshops, public spaces and institutions. In this year's edition and among others, the Centro del Carmen, the IVAM, the Museum of Fine Arts, the CM participate. Rector Peset of the University of Valencia and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
