MEMÒRIA DE PLATJA MARINA

 MEMÒRIA DE PLATJA MARINA

Preselected. The author, in his usual research on the landscape, addresses on this occasion a poetic tension between the real and the imagined to explore the territory of entertainment and play. Thus, the work investigates the playful as a transformative force that intervenes in reality, colors it, disorganizes it and resignifies it. The cliff and the sea remain, but they are no longer the same: they have been crossed by the experience of abstract play.

L´ARBRE CREMAT

 L´ARBRE CREMAT´

- Date: September 2025
- Dimensions: 97 x 146 cm
- Technique: Oil on paper and canvas
- Price: 2,800 euros

In his ongoing explorations of territory and landscape, the artist offers us in this work a reflection on the nature of pain and the capacity for adaptation. The tree, stripped of its vegetation and visible vitality, reminds us that true strength lies in the ability to resist, to endure despite the wounds. It is a testament to life that refuses to be extinguished, to the hope that springs from the burnt ashes.

On the left side of the work, flames engulf everything. On the right, the fire, no longer burning, has left its marks, represented here by small geometric lines and grids of soft pastel colors. Destruction here is not an end, but a turning point. It is the metamorphosis of what was into what is. From exuberance to sobriety. The burned tree does not symbolize death, but rather the resilience of its invisible roots beneath the soil, which still cling firmly to the rock and the earth, nourished by its own memory.

The burned tree is a beacon of dignity in adversity, a monument to the beauty of survival. It reminds us that even when the outward appearance fades, the essence remains. It is a call to accept the constant change in our lives. This acceptance allows us to let go of attachment and suffering, fostering a full experience of the present. The old tree stands, not because of what it has lost, but because of what it still is: an echo of its past and the promise of new stories to live and experience.

Review of the work: Más allá del amanecer, part of the Foios 2026 Painting Competition.

Author: Exhibition curator Neus Carceller Lacruz.

"Valencian artist Jose María Cal depicts landscapes, seeking to create a contemplative connection with nature and encouraging viewers to develop their own world and connect with the work in a profound and playful way. Like Alex Marco, Cal Carvajal attaches importance to the creative process. He explains that the work is an evolving structure, in construction and deconstruction. And mistakes, emptiness and corrections are also constituent elements of the discourse. ‘Más allá del amanecer’, the work shown in this exhibition, follows the usual line of work in abstract landscapes with figurative references. These figurative references help us to interpret the work. A free interpretation that seeks to reflect on the representation of the landscape and the individual way of preserving the territory. The figurative forms that appear subtly suggest a representation of memories and dreams as things that we know existed but cannot prove".

El Jardín de los signos

 EL JARDÍN DE LOS SIGNOS

-Year 2025
- Dimensions: 100 x 100 cm
- Technique: Oil on canvas
- Price: 2,100 euros

Within his usual discourse specializing in nature and landscape, he approaches this work from a tropical exoticism. We find ourselves on the river. We climb the rocks and plunge in again and again. The landscape actually represents the painter's nostalgia, who, in his old memories and lost longings, conveys this yearning through natural environments full of lines, marks, and textures. The visual plasticity of the tropics allows him to express a new language where colorful poetry enables him to explore collage-like compositions that combine abstraction and figuration, represented by geometric elements and drips of oil paint in an expressionist style.

Description: A burning fruit, a red heartbeat, opens in the shade of an enchanted orchard. An orange breeze, a subtle whisper, caresses the hidden golden grain. Rivers of viridian green in fluid strokes, a flavor that shines in an infinite dream, cocoa and fire dancing toward oblivion. The orange fire kisses the slow gray, green leaves in an enchanted breeze. Seeds intertwine in a tinged river, a sweet universe of shadow and heat, a fruit of art, flaming flavors. Chocolate fruits, the source of immense pleasures from the tropical forests.

XXX Premio Pintura Algemesí 2025

Comisario: Àlex Villar

Obra Paisatge25
